The two significant royal events fall on the same day, leaving the monarch to make heartbreaking choice.

On June 13, Charles is set to lead Trooping the Colour, the annual military parade in Locon celebrating the King's official birthday.

This event is one of the most important dates in the royal calendar, featuring large public ceremonies and traditional flypast over Buckingham palace.

However, the celebration coincides with a private family funeral of the King's cousin, Lady Pamela Hicks, a longtime confidante of the royal family and former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth.

It is pertinent to mention that Lady Pamela's funeral is scheduled for the afternoon in Oxfordshire, roughly an hour from London. It is believed that the King could attempt to attend both events in the same day.

Notably, the Trooping the Colour parade is expected to conclude around 1pm, while the funeral service begins at 3pm.

For those unaware: Lady Pamela Hicks died at the age of 97. She had deep ties to the royal household and was closely connected to King Charles and his late parents. Lady Pamela's daughter India Hicks, shared in a social media statement, "My mother died peacefully today. Whilst there is no tragedy in the death of a 97-year-old who has lived a full life I know grief will be unavoidable, lurking around waiting for me, but today I am simply grateful that she was my Mother."

She said that her mother "made incomparable company" and maintained her grace "right up to the end."
