Kate Middleton reveals how her cancer diagnosis affected Prince William, their children

Kate Middleton also said, “A cancer diagnosis affects every part of life, in mind, body and the deeper part of ourselves"

"Meeting patients, families and staff was a powerful reminder that healing is about so much more than treatment alone.”

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has reflected on her cancer diagnosis and its affect on her family and friends in rare remarks.

Kate was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 which led her to halt her royal duties for treatment, including preventative chemotherapy.

Last year in January, the future queen announced her remission.

On Tuesday, Kate visited a cancer centre The Christie in Manchester, where she also met patients completing own treatment.

She spoke candidly about the emotional toll of cancer, emphasizing that it affects not only the individual but also their loved ones.

In a video, the Princess of Wales said, “I know it’s as hard for the family and loved ones.”

Kate remarks in the footage, “I know how hard it was for the children and my parents.”

Later, the palace shared Kate Middleton’s statement on social media which reads, “A cancer diagnosis affects every part of life, in mind, body and the deeper part of ourselves. The way we process fear, uncertainty and change is deeply personal.”

She continued, “Thank you to everyone at The Christie for such a moving visit today.

"Meeting patients, families and staff was a powerful reminder that healing is about so much more than treatment alone.”

The Christie’s commitment to holistic care, from art therapy and wellbeing spaces to emotional and spiritual support, helps people navigate not only illness, but the profound impact it can have on quality of life, the statement reads, and added “These services empower patients to play an active role in their recovery and wellbeing, reminding us that care should always be centred on the whole person.”
