The retired Hollywood lighting director said at the time he feels ‘blessed and beyond happy’ to have found joy again after suffering years of anguish after his daughter allegedly ‘dumped’ him after her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

He said: "I never expected to find joy and happiness again at my age. I felt neglected and sad for so many years but now I am enjoying life again.

“After so many tough times I feel truly blessed to have found someone very special who takes such good care of me.”

They met at a rehab hospital in the Philippines after Mr Markle’s amputation last December.

Now, an insider has claimed, “Thomas told me he’d marry her in a heartbeat and he’s telling the rest of the family he’s happier than he could ever have imagined at the thought of spending the rest of his life with Rio.”

It would be his third marriage, following his 1964 marriage to Roslyn Loveless and 1987 marriage to Doria Ragland, the mother of Meghan.

The close confidant however did not specify whether Meghan’s father would marry in the US or back in the Philippines, where he has said he “loves” living and is “enjoying life.”
