Prince Harry and Meghan Markle blamed for Meredith Maines 'resignation'
Royal family supporters criticized the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after their communications officer decided to quit
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing criticism after the couple's chief communications officer resigned, less than a year into the role.
Meredith Maines was appointed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first chief communications officer in late February.
PEOPLE reported that she officially began the position in March and oversaw communications across the couple’s nonprofit work, business ventures and broader public profile.
Critics quickly blamed Prince Harry and Meghan, with some social media users saying it was due to the couple's difficult working style.
Commenting on the report, an X user wrote, "It’s not the royals, British press or the public that’s the problem. It’s obviously Harry and Meghan. And even talents like Meredith can’t fix crazy."
Another said, "Perhaps it was she who was tasked with dealing with the PR around Madam’s critically ill father and was like, Dood - just call him."
On the other hand, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's supporters also expressed surprise at Meredith's decision to leave the couple. However, they saw it as routine staff changes.
"Wow, It's genuinely sad to see Meredith leave, she really transformed their communications," said a fan account dedicated to Meghan Markle.
