Meghan Markle received a key advice on mending bond with estranged dad Thomas Markle amid intense scrutiny over their relationship due to his health issues.
The 81-year-old recently underwent a major surgery as he had to get his left leg amputated due to nerve blockage.
Following his surgery, Thomas claimed that the Duchess of Sussex did not reach out to him, adding that he does not want to die estranged from his daughter and is open to reconciling with her.
After initially claiming that she has been trying to approach her father after his surgery in Philippines, Meghan was finally able to sent him a letter.
"With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her [Meghan] correspondence is now safely in his hands,” her spokesperson said.
Speaking on their strained bond, family counselling expert Dr Jane Halsall said that the father-daughter duo needs to be “respectful” of their boundaries and have “careful communication” in order to move towards a reconciliation.
"It has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days,” she told The Mirror.
"Public statements against their wishes, as in this case, can intensify this tension,” Halsall continued. "Healing relies on respecting boundaries, careful communication, and therapeutic support.
“If there is estrangement within a family, then it takes time to heal and resilience - the effort to balance love, concern, and self-protection while maintaining psychological well-being for yourself."
