Denise Richards has officially been granted a permanent restraining order against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, following an emotional trial that included harrowing testimony from both sides.
On November 7, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled in Richards’ favour, ordering Phypers to stay at least 100 yards away from the actress and prohibiting him from contacting her or owning firearms. The restraining order, which replaces a temporary one granted in July, will remain in effect until November 7, 2030.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 54, accused Phypers, 53, of physical abuse during their marriage — allegations he has repeatedly denied.
During the multi-day trial, Richards described several alleged incidents, including one in May after her surgery, when she claimed Phypers “smashed me on the top of my head with the palm of his hand while screaming at me repeatedly, ‘Give me your f***ing phone.’”
Richards said she was “disoriented from the surgery” and feared for her safety. “I was fearful he may seriously injure me,” she told the court.
Her claims were supported by Phypers’ cousin, Kathleen McAllister, who testified that she saw him hit Richards in January 2022. “I saw Aaron hit Denise and immediately she had a really bad black eye,” she said. “I’m literally in shock now to this day about it.”
Phypers, however, denied the allegations, insisting he never harmed Richards and that she injured herself after falling into a pole.
