Helen Mirren has recently expressed her elation over receiving recognition at American Cinematheque Awards last week.
Mirren, who was presented the lifetime achievement award by her 1923 co-star Harrison Ford, spoke to Fox News Digital, saying, “This award means I have been accepted by the American movie industry.”
“For such a long time I was dreaming the impossible dream for me as a sort of small stage actress in London,” continued the 78-year-old.
The Golda star stated, “I never imagined that I would have the kind of opportunities that I have had in America and had the kind of recognition that I've had in America.”
“So, it completely took me by surprise. I never, never imagined that I would be offered this sort of recognition, so I am very proud and not humble at all,” she mentioned.
However, when asked about any role she turned it down, to this, Mirren responded, “Not many, but a few.”
“You do make missteps and some I did that I probably shouldn't have done. You make missteps, definitely,” admitted The Queen actress.
Meanwhile, Mirren tore down her AI-generated acceptance speech after reading from this paper at the awards ceremony.
For the unversed, Mirren earned four Emmy Awards, an Academy Award and a Tony Award. She also won three BAFTAs and three Golden Globes.
