The former adviser to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and Chairman Kashmir Think Tank Dr Maqsood Jafri in an exclusive interview given to a private channel said that the Kashmir issue needs urgent attention for peace in South Asia. Kashmir is the apple of discord between India and Pakistan and there is danger of nuclear strike in the Sub- continent, he feared.

Dr Maqsood Jafri expressed deep grief and annoyance over the role of UNO on the issue of Kashmir. He said the Kashmir issue is the oldest standing issue on the agenda of the UN and according to the Chapter 7 of the UN, if the conflict between two countries is not resolved through peaceful mediation, arbitration and dialogue, the UN can pass the resolution to sever diplomatic relations and economic ties with the aggressor country.

Even then if the aggressor country does not implement the UN resolution, the UN can take military action against that country.

Dr Maqsood Jafri, emphasized the need for taking sever and strict measures against India and suggested that the UN membership of India as the violator of UN resolutions may be canceled.

He further suggested that OIC countries should pressurize India to implement the UN resolutions to cooperate in holding fair and free plebiscite in Kashmir under the auspices of UN.

Dr Maqsood Jafri urged the Pakistan government to establish Kashmir Desks in important Pakistani embassies and induct Pakistani and Kashmiri intellectuals, professors and journalists to highlight the Kashmir issue and unveil the grim face of Indian aggression, hypocrisy and state terrorism.
