Handball teams for SAG announced
KARACHI: Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) on Sunday unveiled its men and women teams for the 12th South Asian Games which will be held in the Indian cities of Guwahati and Shillong from February 5-16.
In the handball event, six men and seven women teams will be featuring their worth. In men’s event Pakistan are bracketed in Group A with Nepal and Afghanistan. India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
Pakistan’s men will play their opener against Afghanistan on February 10 at the Institute of Physical Education, Sonapor, Guwahati.
In women’s slots, Pakistan are in Group B with Bangladesh, the Maldives and Afghanistan.
India, Nepal and Sri Lanka have been adjusted in Group B.
Pakistani women will lock horns with the Maldives on February 11 in their opener.
Pakistan’s Mirza Sultan Mehmood and Asif Ali will also serve as referees during the competitions. Finals of both competitions will be played on February 15. The PHF said that both teams had chance to win a medal.
The teams will leave for Guwahati on February 7.
