LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board will be waiting for yet another week to decide whether to pick Mohammad Hafeez, who has a knee injury, for the England tour.

Hafeez suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup earlier this year.

Despite the injury, Hafeez toured India for the World T20 where he aggravated his condition and was eventually left in the matches against New Zealand and Australia.

He also missed the Kakul fitness camp.

His slow recovery has prevented the selection committee from finalising the squad.

Sources said that his latest MRI revealed improvement and that the opener had been asked to continue rehabilitation.

“Right now everything is doubtful. He may tour or he may not tour England,” a source said.

He looks unlikely to travel to England next month, where a pre-Test series camp has been scheduled for the national team.

The 35-year-old’s medical report described his condition as unsatisfactory, but the PCB is planning to take the final decision over his selection next week following his fitness test.

Hafeez has been named among the 21 players called for a skill development camp in Lahore.

There are chances that the PCB might send Hafeez to England along with the team and consult doctors there for his early recovery before the start of the series.

Pakistan will tour England for a four-match Test series and a five-match ODI series, starting from July 14 at Lord’s.
