LAHORE
Increasing hot weather and scorching heat wave together with regular power outages have started creating troubles for students with their parents demanding the Punjab government to immediately announce summer vacation.
As per academic calendar, the annual summer vacation start in Punjab from June 1. However, the parents demand that in the wake of extreme hot weather the government should revise the same to provide some relief to the kids.
Kashif Malik, whose three children go a private school, said the scorching heat had become unbearable owing to which the government should immediately announce the summer break. “Why can’t the government amend the academic calendar keeping in view the changing weather patterns to provide some relief to the students?” he questioned.
Another parent, Farrukh Bokhari, said the government should also ensure that private schools follow its instruction vis-à-vis summer vacation.
He said his children’s school had exam schedule till mid-June which was really unfortunate.
It is generally observed that because of the sluggish attitude of Punjab Schools Department most of the private schools do not follow the Punjab government’s instructions about summer vacation and announce the same in mid-June almost every year in order to collect fee in the meanwhile.
The parents of the students have demanded the chief minister intervene and provide relief to them.
