PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has urged the medical professionals to utilise their energies on modern research in medical science and serve the ailing humanity selflessly.

He was addressing the second convocation ceremony of Khyber Medical University (KMU), the lone public sector medical university of the province.

The governor conferred degrees upon 206 graduates of different disciplines and also awarded 46 gold medals to position-holders of different specialties.

Special shields were also awarded to 13 people for contribution in establishing KMU in different capacities. Some faculty members were, however, astonished when Secretary Health, Abid Majeed, was also given the shield. He was serving as section officer when KMU was established.

Since Abid Majeed wasn’t present in the function, his wife, a doctor by profession and KMU student, was called to the stage to receive his shield from the governor. Congratulating the medical graduates, the governor hoped they would work hard.
