PU awards four PhDs

LAHORE

Punjab University has awarded PhDs to four scholars in different subjects.

Madiha Akram, D/o Muhammad Akram, has been awarded a PhD in Molecular Biology after approval of her thesis entitled “Full Genome Sequence Analysis of Dengue Virus Serotype-2 Isolated in Pakistan and its Genome Variability Studies”, Zulfiqar Ali, S/o Abdul Sattar, in Political Science after approval of his thesis entitled “War on Terror and Pakistan-US Partnership: Effects, Problems and Prospects (2001-2012), Saba Khurshid, D/o Khurshid Anwar, in Agricultural Sciences after approval of her thesis entitled “Exploiting Natural Compounds of Cenchrus Pennisetiformis against Fusarium Wilt of Tomato under Chromium Stress” and Mohsen Ali, S/o Haji Ghulam Nabi, in Islamic Studies after approval of his thesis entitled “The Analytical Study of the Opinions against and in Favour of Tafseer-Bil-Ray.”  

RESULTS: Punjab University has announced the results of MSc Social Work Part-I supplementary examination 2015, BBA (Hons.) first & second year annual examination 2015 and BSc (Engg) Chemical Engineering (old & new course) 2nd semester examination 2015. 

PU has also notified that the last dates for receipt of admission form and fee of B Ed annual examination, 2016. The last date for submission of admission forms for the said exams with single fee is 6-6-16 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 13-6-16. The commencement date of B Ed annual examination, 2016, will be announced later.

workshop: The Centre for Educational Policy and Administration of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) is arranging a one-week training workshop for young faculty members of the university from May 16.

According to a press release issued here Friday, PHEC Lahore Chairperson Prof Dr Muhammad Nizam-ud-Din will preside over the inaugural session of the workshop. The objective of the workshop is to equip the faculty members with advanced teaching methodologies and sound communication skills.

HEC: The Accreditation Inspection Committee (AIC) of the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Council, HEC, Islamabad on Friday visited Punjab University’s Institute of Agricultural Science (IAGS) to improve the accreditation status of the discipline “Food Science & Technology”. 

According to a press release, Director IAGS Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider facilitated the members for accreditation purpose. The committee visited different labs, library and classrooms of the IAGS and met the faculty members in this regard. The committee appreciated the efforts of the director and faculty to maintain the discipline of “Food Science & Technology” and bring the institute on a par with the other agricultural institutions.
