12 hospitalised after taking soda milk

BUREWALA: As many as 12 members of a family fell unconscious after taking poisonous soda milk at Akhtar Town here on Monday night.

Ghulam Abbas, Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Abbas, residents of Chak 517/EB, Akhtar Town, bought milk from the shop of Abdul Salam and soda bottles from the shop of Allah Ditta and prepared soda milk at home.

Later, the family members consumed soda milk but after few hours they fell unconscious. All the family members were rushed to the THQ Hospital where there condition is improving. THQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Rana Muhammad Akram has declared emergency at the hospital to provide medical assistance to all affected people. The family members were included Gulnaz, Sadiq, Abbas, Noman, Javeria, Samsam, Ahtesham, Ali, Sumera, Nadia and Naveed. Meanwhile, acting Vehari DCO Rana Muhammad Saleem along with Vehari EDO Health Dr Afzal Bashir visited the hospital to inquire after the health of the family members. MS Rana Muhammad Akram told that all the patients would be discharged after 24 hours as no patient was in critical condition. Meanwhile, Sadar police have registered a case against both shopkeepers.

POWER SHUTDOWN: The power supply will remain suspended from Aziamabad, Sahuka and BTM feeders from 8am to 5pm for repair and maintenance of electricity lines on Wednesday (today).
