CHARSADDA: Students and staff of the Auqaf Model School, Tangi, took out protest rally against privatization of the school on Thursday.
Led by Yasmeen Begum, the school principal, and Nusrat Ghulam, the protesters carrying banners and placards gathered at Farooq Azam Chowk and chanted slogans against the provincial government for privatising the school.
Speaking on the occasion, they said privatisation of the school would deprive children of acquiring quality education. “Poor people cannot afford to send their kids to private schools,” Yasmeen Begum said, adding that it was an injustice and would add to the miseries of the poor people.
She said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan had cristicised the federal government for privatising the Pakistan International Airlines and others institutions while his own provincial government in the province was going to deprive kids of the poor people from education. They asked the provincial government to withdraw the notification or else a protest campaign would be launched.
