Grid station, two warehouses burnt

An electricity grid station and two godowns were burnt in different parts of the City on Thursday.

Valuables worth millions of rupees were burnt to ashes in a fire erupted due to a short-circuit in a grid-station in the Bhatti Gate police station area.Rescue officials said the fire broke out in the grid station at Bhatti Gate. In a brief time, it turned into a huge fire. Thick cloud smoke spread in the nearby areas that could be seen from a long distance. It took rescue teams at least three hours to put out the fire. Due to the fire, electricity of the nearby areas that included Mohni Road, Shafiqabad, Bhatti  Gate, Katchery Road area remain suspended. An official of rescue department said the fire caused loss of at least Rs 40 million.

 Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt to ashes in an incident of fire in a godown in the Shafiqabad police area. Rescue officials said the fire broke out due to a short-circuit in a godown of energy savers in Zaheer Plaza, Mohni Road. In no time, the fire turned into a huge fire and engulfed the whole godown. Passersby informed rescue teams.  Rescuers extinguished it.

Meanwhile, valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt to ashes when a fire erupted at a wood godown in the Harbanspura police jurisdiction. Rescue officials said the fire broke out in the godown near Pepsi Stop. In no time, it engulfed the whole godown. Rescue officials put it out.

In another incident, valuables were burnt in an incident of fire in a shop in the Defence police area. Rescue officials said that the fire erupted due to a short-ciruit in a shop in Z-block, DHA. Rescue officials controlled it. No casualty was reported in any of the fire incidents.

KILLED: A 35-year-old man died and two other people suffered injuries when a tree fell on a vehicle in the Garden Town police area on Thursday.Police said that victim Jaan Ali and his five companions were going in a vehicle when a tree fell down on their vehicle on Usmani Road,. As a result, Jaan Ali and two others suffered injuries.They were removed to hospital where the doctors pronounced Ali Jaan dead. 

Police have removed the body to morgue.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man died in a road accident in the Raiwind City police area. Police said that victim Mazhar was trying to cross a road when a vehicle hit and injured him. He was removed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The body has been removed to morgue.In another incident, two children were injured when an under-construction wall of a school fell down in the Missri Shah police area. Rescue officials said that the wall of Government Boys School at Sultanpura was under-construction. The two children were passing by it when it fell down. As a result, they suffered injuries. They were removed to hospital and discharged after treatment.

Woman dies: A 35-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances in the Badami Bagh police jurisdiction on Thursday.

Victim Nadia's husband told police said that she slept at night but did not get up in the morning. They removed her to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Police have removed the body to morgue and collected forensic evidences. The family of the victim has alleged that she was poisoned to death by her in-laws. Police said that the cause of her death would be ascertained after autopsy and further investigations.
