PSP gets permission for first-ever public gathering
Management allows Kamal and co to use ‘south peripheral area’ of Quaid’s mausoleum
Karachi
The Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) has been permitted to hold its first-ever public gathering at the Bagh-e-Jinnah on April 24, party chief Mustafa Kamal confirmed in a talk with The News on Friday.
An application was submitted to the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB) on April 6, and while the party's request to hold the rally on the mausoleum's grounds had been rejected, the management has now allowed PSP to organise the gathering in the 'south peripheral area' of the mausoleum.
A no-objection certificate (NOC) has also been issued to the party. The permission letter states that the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar and its peripheral area was protected under the law called Quaid-e-Aazm's Mazaar (Protection and Maintenance) Ordinance 1971.
The PSP has now been allowed to hold its gathering in the south peripheral area of the mausoleum, for which it was bound to coordinate with the relevant security agencies and traffic authorities to avoid traffic chaos.
The letter further read that the PSP would be responsible in case of any damage to the mazar property and the NOC would be immediately stand cancelled in case of any breach in agreement.
A copy of the permission letter has also been sent to the chief secretary, the Sindh HQ 5 corps, the DG Rangers, the city commissioner, the District East commissioner and the SSP East.
Responding to The News regarding permission to be sought by the district administration, PSP spokesperson Iftikhar Alam said the permission granted by the QMMB was enough and it had sent the copy to all the relevant agencies, whose approval had already been given to the PSP.
Meanwhile, Kamal visited the Orangi Town and North Nazimabad on Friday to mobilise public for the gathering.
He said that a warm response was given by the area people who had also assured their participation in the gathering to be held on April 24, which in his words would be a milestone in the history of the city.
