Online taxi service launched

Punjab Information Technology Board, Chairman Dr Saif has said that online taxi service "Uber" will help thousands of Lahorites daily to move around the city on affordable, reliable and safe rides at a single click on their mobile phone.
He stated this while addressing the launching ceremony of the world best online taxi service “Uber” at Arfa Software Technology Park on Thursday. The ceremony was attended among others by Uber’s International Launcher for Middle East & Pakistan Loic Amado and the Country Head of Uber, Mr Zuhair.
Dr Saif inaugurated the launch of service formally by pressing a button sharp at 12pm, the traditional time for launching the service at a new place. Dr Saif said that Pakistan would be the 69th country around the world picked by the prestigious Uber.
Congratulating the audience, Loic Amado said “the interest had been incredible in Lahore, so we were extremely excited to be launching here first.
“Anyone can now enjoy an affordable, reliable and safe ride at the push of a button thanks to UberGO. The competitive price means using UberGO is the perfect option for anyone wanting to get around the city.”
He said that the base fare of Uber Taxi would be Rs100, minimum fare Rs150, while per additional fare would be charged as Rs13.7/km and Rs3.7 per minute.
