MINGORA: The provincial government on Wednesday distributed compensation cheques among the earthquake affectees in Swat district.
Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan distributed the compensation cheques among those whose houses had been destroyed in the earthquake in a function held at the office of the deputy commissioner Swat here.
Deputy Commissioner Mehmood Aslam Wazir and Colonel Yasir Ali of the Pakistan Army were also present on the occasion. About five affected persons, whose houses had been destroyed in the recent tremor, were given Rs200,000 cheques each.
Speaking on the occasion, Inayatullah Khan, who also holds the portfolio of the Local Government, said that the provincial government would left no stone unturned in rehabilitation of the affectees.
He directed the district administration to complete the damages assessment survey in the minimum possible time to ensure early provision of compensation to the affectees.
Mehmood Aslam said that the heirs of 34 persons killed in the earthquake related incidents and other 81 injured persons had been compensated so far.
