PESHAWAR: The district government in Peshawar on Thursday launched volunteers’ programme “Mera Peshawar” with an aim to utilise services of youth in creating awareness about traffic, polio campaign and other public interest issues.
The Peshawar district administration had announced volunteers’ programme on its official page that attracted more than 15,000 volunteers on first day.
More than 500 registered volunteers, 62 of them females, were inv?ited to the inaugural ceremony of the event held here with Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mahsud in the chair.
Riaz Mahsud praised the youth for their spirit and motivation and urged them to play a role in creating awareness about social issues in the public.
“The basic purpose behind “Mera Peshawar” task force is to transfer governance at grossroots level. These vouchers would contribute in creating awareness about traffic principles through pamphlets, cleanliness and would also help in polio campaign,” the deputy commissioner said.
