MANSEHRA: The Wildlife Department has seized two preserved exotic animals during a raid at a hotel in Naran area of Kaghan valley and imposed a fine of Rs400,000 on the owner of the hotel.
“We have recovered two animal trophies, which were smuggled from Gilgit-Baltistan to the scenic valley and fined the hotelier Rs400,000,” said Khursheed Abbasi, the sub-divisional officer wildlife, while speaking to media on Wednesday.
On a tip-off, divisional officer wildlife Rehmatullah Khan Marwat constituted a raiding team led by Abbasi, who seized the exotic pieces. He said both pieces had been smuggled from Sakardu to Naran via Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road.
Abbasi said that both the pieces, having a great value in local and international markets, were seized under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015. He added that in another raid carried out in Gidarpur area of the distinct, a two-month old common leopard cub was recovered.
