KOHAT: There were conflicting reports about the casualties suffered by the militants of two rival militant groups in a clash that took place in Bostikhel area of Darra Adamkhel on Thursday.

The clash took place between fighters of Hakimullah Mahsud-led Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and a pro-government militant group headed by Commander Momin. The TTP sources claimed its fighters had killed six members from the rival group in the clash, while the Momin group claimed killing fighters of the TTP.

However, the identity of the dead militants could not be ascertained. The two groups have been fighting for securing control over the gun-manufacturing Darra Adamkhel area and both the groups had suffered heavy losses in the bloody clashes took place between the fighters.

The Momin group, reportedly backed by the government, has secured control of certain villages in Darra Adamkhel area after the TTP militants led by Commander Tariq Afridi were expelled from some of the areas as a result of military operation. Tariq Afridi, who is considered the most dangerous man in TTP, has carried a number of suicide attacks on opponents in Darra Adamkhel and inflicted heavy losses on them.
