An effective parent-teacher partnership can make a significant difference in child’s education, and the start of a new term is an ideal time to refocus this partnership, says a press release.
A parent’s well-planned involvement in a child’s education can make a big difference.
From January 15, onwards, Parents Teacher Meetings (PTM) are being held at Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) Islamabad, Rawalpindi and nationwide campuses with great enthusiasm. The theme of these Parent Teacher Meetings is ‘Be Tech-savvy’. The theme is no longer limited to being able to boot up a computer and texting on a cell phone.
Being tech savvy also doesn't mean having to spend a lot of money on the latest gadget, or having a bluetooth connection between your fridge and microwave. It just means that you use technology to be more productive and efficient. To emphasise on the same, teachers and students presented different projects using various softwares. Mobile hangings, story boards, connecting classrooms; everything was just apt and according to the theme. Young, vibrant and enthusiastic Millennials were beaming with confidence to show off their hard work to the parents.
Parents got glimpse of education strategy of the school, our philosophy and also they were made aware of their crucial role in catering to various needs of children with the coordinated efforts of the professionals, educationists, school counselors and luminaries of allied fields. The feedback given by the parents was very positive and they appreciated Roots Millennium Schools initiatives such as Millennium Chinese and German language classes, Millennium Robotics Programme, Intel & RMS Joint ICT curriculum, citizenship & entrepreneurship classes, Green School and Sports activities.
CEO RMS Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI, while addressing the parents in the campuses stated that parent-teacher meetings are an opportunity to establish better communication between parents and teachers. Since children are different at home and in school, parent-teacher meetings enable both the parent and the teacher to gain a better understanding of the child, enabling them to be more effective in helping him or her. When parents and teachers work together to try and provide the best environment for learning, the child stands to benefit the most.
Despite of the prevailing law and order situation in the country, 100 per cent parents attended the PTM. One of the parents, who attended the PTM, said that it went better than she expected. “The teaching staff did an excellent job of preparing the student folders, planning for grade-specific activities and presenting the data. I appreciate their hard work,” she said. “RMS has excellent teachers and they work hard. I think they appreciate the chance to share with parents what they are doing and celebrating our children’s success is a hallmark of RMS.” “The security measures that RMS has taken in order to keep our children safe and secure are praise worthy.”
