The standard of living could be made better by keeping environment clean and green, said Federal Minister for Climate Change Rana M. Farooq Saeed Khan.
“Carbon emissions should be lowered to promote a greener environment and green economy. Water and land should be saved from being polluted by the joint efforts of people. On this day, we should pledge to save and purify our environment from pollutants,” he stated while addressing a seminar on World Environment Day titled ‘Green Economy: Does it Include You?’ at the Islamabad College for Girls, Sector F-6/2. The seminar was organized jointly by the Pakistan Wetlands Programme, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development and the Ministry of Climate Change.
Pakistan Wetlands Programme Senior Director Dr. Ghulam Akbar said that keeping in mind the importance of natural resources in every aspect of life in reality is called ‘Green Economy’.
Ministry of Climate Change Secretary Mohammad Javed Malik also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, students of the Islamabad College for Girls, Sector F-6/2, presented a puppet show, tableau, skits and songs to highlight environmental issues. Stalls depicting environmental themes were also set up by students.
