LAHORE In the light of serious security threats, the Home Department Punjab has chalked out a security plan to enhance the security of the Punjab Civil Secretariat. As per new security plan, sophisticated security equipments at an estimated cost of 23.7 million are being purchased to check the vehicles and visitors. The security equipments include 35 Walkie-Talkies, four luggage scanners, four vehicle scanners, four bottom view mirrors and five walkthrough gates. Moreover, safe security paths will be constructed at every block for the evacuation of staff in case of any emergency situation. Besides this, a security officer, a focal person and an emergency officer will be appointed at each block and they will monitor the evacuation of employees during an emergency situation. The buses which pick employees from Sheikhupura and Kasur districts will be parked at safer places. The staff of the Civil Defence will clear the buses before their departure from the Civil Secretariat to respective districts and at arrival the officials of Special Branch of respective districts will give clearance on daily basis. Besides this, a police constable will be deployed on every bus. The employees will be bound to display security cards and they will be boarded on the buses after thorough checking by the security guards. A list of bus-stops will also be prepared and these stops will be thoroughly checked. It has been decided to remove illegal parking-stands outside the Civil Secretariat to maintain traffic flow. The employees will have to wear office cards during the duty hours. Police patrolling will be enhanced alongside the boundary wall of the Civil Secretariat. The security escorts of VIPs, who will visit secretariat, will do patrolling duty. Two police constables will be deployed at parking areas besides uninterrupted electricity will be provided to Watch Towers and search lights. Similarly, the record of labourers working at the civil secretariat, trucks and their drivers will also be maintained.
