All the campuses of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore on Wednesday arranged condolence references in memory of Prof Dr Muhammad Akram, Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology and Principal Officer Ravi Campus. Prof Akram had passed away in a tragic road accident on his way to Ravi Campus Pattoki on Tuesday (June 30, 2015).
A condolence meeting was held on the City Campus in which Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Punjab Mr Nasim Sadiq, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, a large number of university staff and students prayed for the departed soul and paid tribute to the services of Prof Akram. The vice-chancellor expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Prof Akram, prayed for his soul and sympathised with bereaved family. Prof Pasha termed the death a big loss to the university and paid tribute to his services for the university, poultry sector and the country. He said Prof Akram had worked day and night for the development of the university, especially the Ravi Campus. The secretary livestock said we should continue Prof Akram’s good work and vision for promotion of education and research.
A condolence reference was also arranged on the Ravi Campus Pattoki. The vice-chancellor chaired the meeting in which participants prayed for the departed soul and paid tribute to his services. The staff of Buffalo Research Institute Pattoki also attended the condolence reference on Ravi Campus. Similarly, condolence references were held at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang and Para-Veterinary School Layyah, where staff and students offered Fateha for the departed soul.
Prof Akram was among senior professors of the UVAS. He had more than 27 years of teaching, research and extension experience to his credit. He had also served as Dean Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture and chairman of Department of Poultry Production. He had supervised over 100 postgraduate students and published over 80 research papers. He also authored four books on poultry production and presented papers to many national and international conferences.
