LAHORE
THE Lahore High Court Justice Farrukh Irfan Monday stopped secretary cooperative societies Punjab from functioning and issued him a contempt of court notice.
Justice Farrukh Irfan of the LHC directed the secretary Babar Tarar to reply the court notice by May 18. The court issued this order against Tarar for defying the court orders.
Appearing before the court on petition of some residents of Model Town Cooperative Society, Tarar submitted that the LHC could not interfere in his proceedings; therefore, he was not bound to obey the court orders. At this, the judge said the LHC could intervene in every illegal order of any authority. The judge stopped him from functioning and issued him contempt of court notice. The court issued orders that in the petition, some other responsible officer would appear before the court. The court was hearing the petition of Fiza Naeem Bukhari and her five siblings questioning mutation of three plots in MTHS left by their deceased father. She submitted that the MTHS deprived them of their real inheritance by declaring Rabia Salman Qureshi the legal heir of their father. She had questioned the inheritance of plot number 84, 85 and 86 of Block J.
She submitted that already the civil court and cooperative societies registrar had directed the MTHS to fix its record including them among the legal heirs but in vain. She said, later, the respondent challenged the order of the registrar before the secretary who also directed the MTHS to include them among the legal heirs but later he withdrew the order. At this, the court had summoned the secretary before the court on Monday.
