Chairperson of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Irfan Qaisar Sheikh has said that Tevta will organise the ‘Road Shows’ in Saudi Arabia and Qatar in May and June this year to hunt the overseas jobs for its pass-outs.
Chairing a meeting to review the progress for sending Tevta pass-outs abroad on Thursday, he said Tevta placement cell was collecting the data of its pass-outs across Punjab in this regard.
Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, General Managers Hamid Ghani Anjum, Abdul Qayyum, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Ejaz Hameed, Amer Hasan, and other officers attended the meeting.
Irfan Qaisar Sheikh said the case of TEVTA Punjab was under process to get the Overseas Employment Promoter Licence adding presently a nexus with the ministry of labour and manpower for sending skilled workforce to Qatar was also underway.
He said TEVTA had introduced the demand driven courses in selected institutes including that of Housekeeping, Beautician, Cooking, Solar Panel, Painter, Kitchen Helper, Refrigeration, and Air-conditioning, Home Appliance Repair, Welder, Plumber, Electrician, Mason, Shuttering Carpenter, Steel Fixer, and Spoken Arabic which would be beneficial for pass-outs to get the jobs abroad.
Chairperson TEVTA further said 500 masons would immediately be trained at Multan to meet the job requirement in UAE adding a successful meeting had also been conducted with the delegation of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce in Lahore to provide manpower in the construction sector for expansion projects at holy places. The meeting was informed that TEVTA recently arranged an interview session conducted by UAE based company Mercury Meena at TEVTA Secretariat for the post of electrician.
About 300 pass-outs in electrician trade were interviewed and 150 were selected for jobs in UAE by this company in the first phase whereas other 150 would be considered by this company and would be given jobs in the next phase.
