LAHORE
University of Management and Technology (UMT) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) on Friday signed an MoU under which graduates of BS Accounting from UMT will have an opportunity to pursue
highly-recognised chartered accountancy qualification.
According to a press release, the MoU was signed by University of Management and Technology Director General Abid HK Sherwani and ICAP President Yaqoob Suttar on UMT campus, Lahore.
Under the MoU, UMT graduates would be able to avail exemption from eight papers of CA examinations. Similarly, ICAP students who have cleared respective ICAP subjects and ICAP members would be able to avail exemptions in mapped subjects of BS accounting at UMT.
Speaking on the occasion, Abid HK Sherwani said students pursuing degrees in accounts and other professions would have a great future not only in Pakistan but all over the world.
He also disclosed that UMT was going to start another campus in Dubai.
Yaqoob Suttar said it was a good opportunity for the academic institutions to further enhance the competitiveness of accountancy profession.
It will further add value addition to the corporate sector, he added.
