LAHORE
A unique exhibition of watercolours by 13 artists from Karachi and Lahore opened at Coopera Art Gallery on Thursday.
Seven artists from Karachi and six from Lahore participated in the exhibition. They displayed their 56 pieces of artwork portraying the land, environment and culture of Pakistan. This show has been organised in connection with Pakistan Day. This provides ample opportunities to see the work of senior and young watercolourists under one roof. The paintings hung on the walls were vibrant and bold representing the culture and social life. The artists from Karachi mostly selected the activities alongside the sea and the other busy areas of the city including suburban areas, whereas artists from Lahore focused on the old city and its cultural life, kites flying and spring season showing their high professional skill.
The participant artists from Karachi are Abdul Hayee, Ghulam Abbas Kamangar, Dr Manzoor ul Hasian, Saleem Akhtar, Anwar Ali, Abdul Majeed Khaskhaili and Zafar Mahmood. The contributors from Lahore are Dr Ajaz Anwar, Khalid Latif, Mahmood Alam, M Shafiq, Mudassar Kazmi and M Shahid.
A large number of art lovers including students were present at the opening occasion. The exhibition will remain open daily from 10am to 6PM except holidays until April 11.
