EDO Education during his visit to an examination centre suspended its superintendent for poor arrangements for ongoing class-8 exams.
According to a spokesman of the EDO office, EDO Muhammad Pervaiz Akhtar during visit to an examination centre at Govt High School, Shahdra suspended the centre superintendent Sh Waseem Ahmed for poor examination arrangements.
The paper of mathematics was held on Monday and it is learnt at most of the exam centres, the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) failed to deliver all the six versions of the question paper. It is pertinent to mention here that last paper of the subject of Urdu will be held on March 8 (Sunday).
Tree plantation: A tree plantation ceremony was arranged by the Punjab Forestry Department and Forman Christian College at the college campus on Monday.
According to a press release, FCC Rector Dr James Tebbe, FCC Vice Rector Dr Joseph Jones, Deputy Secretary Planning Forests, Punjab Shahid Rasheed Awan and Chief Conservator Forests, Central Zone Lahore, Shabbir Ahmad Rana, planted sapling trees on the FCC campus. A walk was held to raise awareness about the importance of planting trees. FCC students, teachers, members of the administrative staff as well as officials from the Punjab Forestry Department participated in the walk.
cultural day: Baloch students of Punjab University celebrated Baloch Cultural Day outside Institute of Education and Research (IER) New Campus on Monday.
The students set up various traditional stalls and performed cultural dance on traditional songs. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran paid visit to the stalls and met the Baloch students.
Talking to the media, Dr Mujahid Kamran said: “Allah has blessed Balochistan with abundance of mineral resources but unfortunately we had not taken benefit from the mineral wealth and no attention was paid to education sector in the province”. He said incumbent PU administration took the initiative and reserved one seat in its almost all academic programmes for Baloch students with free education, hostel accommodation and Rs 3,000 stipend.
oath-taking: The oath-taking ceremony of the elected office-bearers of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Academic Staff Association (ASA) was held here on Monday.
UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha administered the oath to the new office-bearers including Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani (President), Dr Saima Naveed (Vice-President), Dr Rana Muhammad Ayub (General Secretary), Dr Ayesha Safdar (Joint Secretary) and Dr Jawad Nazir (Treasure).
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pasha urged the new office-bearers to work for the welfare and development of the teaching staff of the university. Meanwhile, a delegation from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) visited the UVAS and called on the VC. The delegation was comprised of Dr Martin Sieber, consultant Ag Develop International Agriculture Market Development and Muhammad Asmat Raza Ag Specialist.
