A lecturer of Sanda College was shot dead over a property dispute in Liaqatabad Police limits on Wednesday.
The relatives of the victim staged a protest demonstration against the police by placing the dead body outside the CM’s house in Model Town.
Police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother Atif Dawood against accused Abdul-Qudoos, son of Yaqub, Muhammad Ashraf, son of Manzoor, and Abdul-Qayum alias Qumi of Shakargarh.
Yasir Dawood, 45, of R-Block Model Town had a property dispute with the accused.
Yasir Dawood was on his way with his brother when three people riding two motorbikes shot him dead.
The victim’s family chanted slogans against Liaqatabad Police and alleged that the police were patronising the accused. Senior police officers reached the scene and assured the protesters of justice.
dies: A 30-year-old woman was killed in a road accident in Shahdra Police limits. Police registered a case on the complaint of Abaid Ali Khan, husband of the victim.
The deceased was identified as Nusrat Bibi of Raiwind. The woman was travelling with her husband and a five-year-old son Faizan Abaid on motorbike LWP-9246 when near Ravi Bridge bus 133-MDXA hit the motorbike, killing the woman on the spot. Her husband and son received minor injuries.
Stray bullet: A 16-year-old boy was killed when a stray bullet hit him in the Ravi Road Police limits on Wednesday.
The police removed the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of Muhammad Afzal, the father of the victim.
The boy was identified as Amir Akbar of Qila Laxshman Singh. The victim was sitting in a street with his friends when a stray bullet hit his head. As a result, he was injured and rushed to Mayo Hospital where he died. The boy was the student of first year.
ACCIDENTS: At least 467 accidents were reported in Rescue 1122 Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which six lives were lost and 327 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals. Some 217 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
According to a data, 195 drivers, 11 underage drivers, 63 pedestrians and 292 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 105 accidents were reported in Lahore Control Room which affected 110 people placing the City at the top of the list followed by 38 accidents in Faisalabad with 45 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 24 accidents and 18 victims.
The details show total 550 in the victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 445 males and 105 females while age group of the victims show that 72 were under 18 year of age, 337 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 141 victims were reported above 40 years.
According to the data, 354 motorbikes, 58 auto-rickshaws, 43 motorcars, 14 vans, 10 passenger buses, 21 trucks and 68 other types of auto-vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the road traffic accidents.
