A private security guard was arrested after he allegedly killed a watchman in Amail Goth, Quaidabad, on Wednesday.
SHO Shah Lateef Town Khadim Lashari told The News that the deceased, 45-year-old Nasir Khan, hailed from the tribal area of Tank and was a father of two.
Some residents of the area caught the security guard, Gul Nawaz, and handed him over to a police team. The deceased was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem. SHO Lashari claimed the watchman was killed over some personal enmity.
Body found in gunny bag
The body of a man tied hand and foot with rope was found in a gunny bag in the Malir River under the Jam Sadiq Bridge on Wednesday. According to a police officer, the unknown man was also blindfolded and empty casings of a 9MM pistol were found on the spot.
The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where a medico-legal officer said the man appeared to be 38 years old and he had suffered three bullet wounds.
Alleged robber killed in encounter
An alleged bandit was gunned down in North Nazimabad on Wednesday. According to a police official, two gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted a vehicle near the Five Start Chowrangi and were robbing its occupants when a mobile van patrolling the area reached the spot.
The robbers engaged the police in an encounter, during which one of them was injured and the other managed to flee.
The injured man, who identified himself as Muhammad Junaid, died while he was being taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The police team seized snatched mobile phones, a motorcycle and a TT pistol found on him.
