Two robbers shot dead a Pakistan Army soldier during a mugging attempt in the Saudabad area on Wednesday.
Armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted a motorcyclist Muhammad Shoaib, 24, near Malir 15 and ordered him to hand over cash and his bike. When he resisted, one of the armed robbers opened fire at him and the two escaped the scene along with the booty and vehicle leaving Shoaib in a pool of blood.
The area people informed the police, who reached the spot and took the injured Shoaib to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where during treatment he breathed his last.
Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
Police said the deceased was a serviceman and lived in Quaidabad.
Two shot dead
Two people were gunned down, while an aged woman received bullet wounds in separate incidents of violence.
Abdul Hakeem, 55, and 60-year-old woman, Hazoori, received bullet wounds when some unidentified people riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on them near Junna Masjid in Lyari, while they were sitting outside their residence.
The area people immediately took them to the Civil Hospital in critical condition, but Hakeem breathed his last on the way. According to the police, the incident was the result of personal enmity.
Also in Lyari, an unidentified, 25-year-old man was gunned down when some armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him near Adam Tea Adda while he was going on a motorcycle.
The area people immediately informed the police, who shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
Police claimed that the deceased was killed in a targeted incident.

One dead in roof collapse
A worker was killed and six others injured when a portion of the roof of a factory located in Korangi collapsed.
Saleem, 30, was killed instantly and six of his co-workers, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Nawaz, Nasarullah, Ghulam Naved, Altaf Hussain and Fahram received injuries as part of the roof of a factory near Singer Chowrangi in Korangi collapsed on them.
The body of the deceased and the injured persons were shifted to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre for autopsy and treatment respectively.

Cop dies in road crash
In another incident, 40-year-old Sub Inspector Khadim Hussain was knocked down to death by a rashly-driven vehicle in the site area while he was going towards his residence. The deceased was posted at the SITE-B police station.
