Several important documents pertaining to the hospital’s management, as well as patients’ records, were burnt to ashes as the record room of the Civil Hospital’s Surgical Ward caught fire, allegedly due to a short-circuit, on Thursday.
The blaze caused panic at the hospital premises but officials confirmed that none of the patients or attendees were injured. Rescue services were quick to reach the hospital and the fire was put out without any major incidents.
Taking notice of the fire, Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar constituted an inquiry committee comprising Sindh Special Secretary Health Riaz Memon to investigate the incident and submit a report and ordered them to report back within a day.
