PSTD to host third annual learning conference on May 20

Conference to highlight the importance of learning and development on a personal level

The Pakistan Society for Training and Development will be hosting its third annual learning conference on Wednesday, May 20, at a local hotel.
The theme of the conference is ‘Building a Sustainable Learning Culture’, which would be focused to highlight the importance of learning and development on a personal level as part of organisational strategy.
Various industry leaders along with organisational development professionals, trainers and consultants will be present at the conference to provide their valuable experience and knowledge, and to create a platform to connect, PSTD Board Member Ali Shirazi said.
The keynote speaker this year will be Faisal Farooq Khan, the Group HR Head of Bank Alfalah.
Shirazi further informed that in the event, case study of Getz Pharma, various panel discussions and sessions on preparing learning strategy and behavior based profiling by UK based firm (Thomas) are also on the agenda, he further said. Topics such as instructional design and performance management, among others, will be tackled by training professionals. The conference will also include a debate on training effectiveness, he added.
Commenting on the annual learning conference, Shirazi mentioned, “It is a known fact that learning, talent development, its retention and building leadership capacity is of key importance to any organisation that aims to deliver sustainable competitive advantage. At PSTD we understand the importance of aligning training with organisational strategy and through this conference we hope to create a platform for building an organizational social strategy.”
The PSTD is an independent, non-profit and non-government institution, managed by a board of governors comprising senior executives and human resource professionals from leading organisations in Pakistan. The Society was founded on May 21, 1966 and over the past 47 years has organised numerous trainings and speakers sessions actively encouraging national and multinational organisations to share and enhance their professional expertise from the society’s platform.
