MANSEHRA: The contenders for the Local Government elections in five union councils of Mansehra district have started door-to-door visits to seek votes as the Election Commission of Pakistan has finalised its preparations to hold re-polling at five polling stations of the district on July 5.
The Election Commission had issued official results of 54 union councils out of a total 59 earlier this month. And results of five union councils including Karnool, Kawai, Gari Habibullah, Hangrai and Mahandri were withheld owing to theft of ballot boxes and clashes at various stations there.
The Election Commission has hired services of the same staff deputed in the May 30 Local Government elections. The re-polling would be held at Chaper Joshal polling station in Hangrai union council, Bonja polling station in Kawai, Nikka Jirad polling station in Mahandri, Baratkot polling station in Gari Habibullah and Dogha polling station in Karnool union council. The contenders, particularly those in run for district and tehsil councils, were highly active to secure maximum votes from re-polling to win the seats.
