65 stranded Pakistanis reach home from Libya
KARACHI: Ansar Burney Trust International Chairman Ansar Burney said that 65 Pakistanis stranded in Sirte, Libya, via Tunisia reached home on Friday.In a press release, Burney said almost 700 Pakistanis including dozens of trafficked ones are still stranded in most critical circumstances in Sirte while almost 300 including women and children are anxiously waiting to come back home as soon as possible while some waiting for their cruel agents to be further trafficked them to Europe.Burney requested the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah to save precious lives of almost 300 Pakistanis in Sirte by sending a ship as soon as possible.

Eight killed as van falls into river from KKH

BISHAM: Eight passengers were killed and one sustained injuries when a Kohistan-bound van fell into the Indus River near the Lahore Nulla on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) on Friday. The van, carrying passengers, was heading to Kohistan from Bisham when it plunged into the Indus River at Lahore Nullah on Karakoram Highway. Eight passengers identified as Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Khan, Rokhan, Jannat Bibi, Rehmat Ali, Shah Faisal, Taj Muhammad and Farogh were killed on the spot while Saud sustained serious injuries. The police and locals retrieved the bodies and rushed the injured to a hospital.

Police open courts in Lahore hear 5,300 complaints

LAHORE: Different police officers held open courts at mosques located in their areas concerned, listened to the complaints of the people, and issued orders to their solution on Friday. DSP Muslim Town Abdullah Jan held an open court at Jamia Mosque Auqaf, DSP Iqbal Town Shabbir Ahmad at Jamia Mosque Bait-ul-Noor, and DSP Gulshan-e-Ravi Ghulam Abbas Rana at Jamia Mosque Ya Rasool Ullah, Gulshan Ravi. Speaking on the occasion, DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf said they were introducing a computerised system for effective and rapid response on the complaints of complainants at every police station in the city. He said the police officers had listened to the complaints of more than 5,300 complainants during the open courts.

LAHORE: Unidentified accused threw a 12-year-old girl in front of her house after raping her in Lower Mall police limits on Friday. Police have registered an FIR against the accused on a complaint of her father, Mumtaz Khan. The victim went to bring yogurt and milk from a nearby shop on the Hafiz Road. When she did not return for a long time, the family became worried and stated a search for her. They went to the police and lodged a complaint. The next day, she was found in an unconscious condition in front of her house. The family called the police which collected forensic evidence from the scene and registered statements of eye-witnesses.

Wardens hand over missing deaf children to families

LAHORE: Traffic wardens recovered three lost children, searched their parents and handed them over to them on Friday. Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for wardens on their dutiful act. Wardens Ramzan, Yasir, Arfan, and Javed Shafi were performing their duty on traffic sector Mall-I. They saw two special children (deaf) in school uniform standing on roads. They took them to their school and later sent them their homes.

Two killed in Shangla accident

BISHAM: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and four others sustained injuries when a vehicle fell into a ravine in Shangla district on Friday, official sources said. They said a vehicle (PSM-853) was heading to Shangla from Buner when it developed a fault and plunged into a ravine near Danakol mountainous area. Two passengers identified as Abdul Mateen and a woman were killed on the spot while four others were wounded.
