KARACHI: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq called on Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig Hon. Consul General of Yemen in Pakistan and expressed his concern over the situation in Yemen, says a press release on Tuesday.
Dr Baig explained the efforts of his consulate in Karachi and Yemeni Embassy in Islamabad regarding the evacuation of stranded Pakistanis in Yemen. Dr Baig also assured that with combined efforts of the government of Pakistan and Yemen, remaining Pakistanis will also return to Pakistan soon.
He at this time also appreciated the dynamic leadership of Ambassador of Pakistan to Yemen Dr Irfan Shami in this regard. Dr Baig explained the status of repatriation of the 11 Pakistanis imprisoned in Yemeni jail and that on his request the Ambassador of Yemen Abdullah Obaid has already spoken to government of Yemen to allow the return of the Pakistani prisoners to Pakistan on humanitarian grounds, however, they can complete their remaining sentence in their home country.
