Five major generals likely to be promoted to lieutenant generals by end of month

ISLAMABAD: Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj has assumed charge of the office of Director General Military Intelligence (DG MI) at the GHQ. The strategically important slot fell vacant when Major General Sarfaraz Sattar was transferred to Sialkot as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 8th Infantry Division.
Sources said that four Lieutenant Generals namely Lt General Nasser Khan Janjua, Lt General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, Lt General Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhary and Lt General Naweed Zaman will be attaining their superannuation and would be retiring from the Army in less than a month on 4th of October.
It is likely that at least five major generals would be promoted to become lieutenant generals by the end of September. It is likely Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat who is currently Chief of General Staff (CGS) at the GHQ would become Commander South Command and Commander XII Corps in Quetta.
Lt General Nasser Khan Janjua who has done exceptionally well during his stint in Quetta has been tipped for heading prestigious education institute National University of Science and Technology (Nust) as its Rector.
Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj was elevated to current rank in February this year. He is a bright officer of Pakistan Army. Lt General Syed Tariq Nadeem Gilani is Chief of Logistic Staff (CLS) at GHQ, Lt General Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry, is Inspector General Arms (IG Arms) GHQ and Lt General Naweed Zaman who is Corps Commander Lahore are among the Lieutenant Generals supposed to retire next month. Lt. General Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhary has also served earlier as Corps Commander Karachi and DG Rangers Karachi.
