Four more convicts hanged

LAHORE: Four prisoners were executed in jails of Punjab Wednesday. Two were hanged till death in Central Jail, Lahore, one in Central Jail, Sahiwal, and one in Central Jail, Bahawalpur.
Executions of four prisoners; two in Central Jail, Sahiwal, and two in Central Jail, Sialkot, have been postponed due to stay orders. Moreover, four more prisoners would be executed next week.
Two prisoners one from Central Jail Sahiwal and one from Central Jail Sargodha, will be hanged on April 23 and two more, one from Central Jail, Lahore, and one from District Jail Vehari would be executed on April 28.
APP adds: Death row prisoner Zahid Hussain was hanged in Central Jail, Sahiwal. Zahid was guilty of killing a police official named Fida Hussain in 2001. Prisoner Nazir Ahmad was hanged in New Central Jail, Bahawalpur. Nazir had killed one Mushtaq in 2002.
Rizwan and Muazzam were hanged after fulfilling medical and legal requirements. Rizwan, a private security guard, was executed for killing prominent businessman Seth Abid’s son Hafiz Ayaz Ahmad and four others on November 2, 2006. An anti-terrorism court had awarded him death sentence on five counts with a fine of Rs 1.125 million. Muazzam was sent to gallows for killing Master Iqbal in 1995.
