QWP leader wants internet service restored to merged districts
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader and former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Adnan Wazir on Wednesday asked the government to restore internet facility in the merged districts and ban the holding of all kinds of gatherings over there to contain Covid-19.
According to a press release, he said that the government should ensure implementation of its directives regarding the lockdown in the merged districts to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
He also urged the government to ensure the provision of the relief goods to the daily-wagers and labourers. He lamented that despite the announcement by the government to provide relief to the poor, the less have-nots were yet to get any relief.
Adnan Wazir, who belongs to Bannu district, which also reported its first death from coronavirus on Tuesday, said that on the one hand the daily wagers had been out of work due to the lockdown and on the other hand the prices of the daily use commodities had registered a sharp increase.
The QWP leader said that the government needs to take urgent steps to mitigate the sufferings of the poor people, who have been hit the most by the lockdown and other measures put in place to stem the tide of the rising coronavirus cases.
He also expressed concern over the reports that the workers of the ruling party would be tasked with distributing the relief goods. He said that transparency should be ensured and this issue should not be politicized.
