Polio is endemic in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. However, over the last two years Afghanistan and Nigeria have seen a decrease in the number of polio cases. Their health professionals or health departments are very serious in this context.
Surprisingly, the number of cases reported in our country increased to 306 in 2014. So far this year the reported polio cases stand at 28. The cause of this disease is the Wild Polio Virus (WPV). One aspect we need to strengthen is the surveillance of the Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) disease.
