Support for the planet

This refers to the news picture captioned, ‘Ishtiaq Baig, Hon Counsel General of Morocco, is planting a tree on World Earth Day’ (April 24). The photograph had at least reminded us that there was an Earth Day on April 22 which had passed away unnoticed.
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide to demonstrate support for the environmental protection of our planet. To give some meaning to this day, we in Pakistan should also celebrate it in a befitting manner. Sometime back, somebody floated an idea to plant layers of trees all along the 1,756 km long GT Road from Peshawar to Karachi. That is indeed a good idea.
