HSE standards

HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) or OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) may be a new term/field for some of us but if we see in the international perspective it is of paramount importance. Primarily, it is related to the protection and prevention of humans from hazardous working conditions or environment. Its application/violation is taken very seriously, particularly in the western world.
Unfortunately, in our country, HSE/OSH is not taken very seriously and as a result we face issues like child labour, substandard work environment, no safety dress/tools while dealing with hazardous materials/chemicals, no specific safety training to labour/skilled persons in the construction sector and in the oil and gas sector. Since, Pakistan is also endeavouring to pace up its progress and development, HSE/OSH safety standards should be adopted in true letter and spirit.
