According to media reports, Bangladesh’s economy, driven by a robust export sector, is performing well. This is despite the fact that the country is endowed with little natural resources, overpopulation and limited land.
What is surprising is that Bangladesh’s exports are much higher (35-40 percent) than those of Pakistan. Moreover, their exports have been increasing each year while ours are showing a decline despite the availability of the GSP Plus status to us. Bangladesh’s currency posts higher value than our rupee, notwithstanding the frequent disruptions due to frequent political agitations, protests and strikes.
