NOWSHERA: The Pakistan People’s Party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has yet to iron out intra-party differences despite efforts for reconciliation between the ideological and Khanzada groups.
The ideological group has nominated Tariq Khattak as the provincial convener of the PPP and has started reorganising the party. The sources said that a meeting of the party leaders was held at the residence of Mian Muzaffar Shah which was attended by Tariq Khattak, Maj (R) Baseer Khattak, Mir Haider Lala, Aftab Khattak, Gul Ahmed Khan and others.
The meeting criticised provincial president Senator Khanzada Khan and other office-bearers for the party for poor performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The leaders of the ideological group said that they were acting on the directives of the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, adding that some members were conspiring against the party. They said that five members from each group were nominated to sort out differences between the two groups. However, they said, the meetings remained fruitless.
The participants of the meeting said that workers of the ideological group were ignored during the visit of former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to Mardan and Nowshera. They said that they had started a door-to-door campaign to bring the disgruntled workers back to the party. They announced an organising committee for district.
The participants of the meeting also asked the central leadership to dismiss the party provincial chapter office-bearers and hold intra-party elections after constituting provincial organising committee.
