An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Brigade police station for failing to appear before the as a prosecution witness in the case of murder of the police station’s former SHO, Nasirul Hassan.

According to the prosecution, accused Irfan alias Urfi and Ishtiaq alias Ishtiaq Policewalla, said to be activists of a certain political party, had killed Hassan in 2010.

The serving SHO of the police station was, however, repeatedly summoned by the court to provide evidence in the murder but he failed to appear before the court.

The court finally issued arrest warrants against the witness and ordered to arrest him and produce him before the court.

SHO Hassan was gunned down while he was on his way to the police station, in his Land Cruiser. He was said to have played a vital role in an operation against a political party in Karachi.

He was also said to have arrested notorious criminal, Shoaib Khan and the killing of another high profile criminal Siddiq Bocha in Baldia Town in an encounter several years ago.
