Factory boiler blast claims lifeax

LAHORE

A man died and two others injured when a boiler exploded in a pharmaceutical factory in Chung area on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Amir who breathed his last on his way to a local hospital. The injured identified as Qamar and Rabia Bibi were admitted to a local hospital where their conditions were said to be out of danger. The incident had reportedly taken place due to short circuit in the boiler. Chung police arrested factory owner’s son Amir.

Four injured: Four people received injuries when a roof of a shoe factory collapsed in Darogawala Baghbanpura on Saturday.

Upon being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene and pulled four injured out of the debris. The injured, yet to be identified, were admitted to a local hospital where the conditions of two were said to be precarious.

Two bodies found: A 45-year-old unidentified man was found dead in Data Darbar police limits on Saturday.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy.

A passerby informed police about a man lying unconscious. Police reached the place and shifted the victim to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said the victim looked like a drug addict and might have died of a drug overuse. However, autopsy would ascertain the cause of his death. Police were searching for the family of the victim.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old unidentified man was found dead in Tibbi City police limits on Saturday. Police have removed the dead body to morgue for autopsy. A passerby informed police about a man lying unconscious. Police reached the place and shifted him  to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police suspected the victim was a drug addict.

safety: Director General Emergency Services Academy said all the stakeholders should play their due role in ensuring a sense of safety and security among the people.

Presiding over a security review meeting at Emergency Services Academy, the DG said they were highly concerned about the security of emergency personnel and disaster response equipment at the Academy therefore the police department had been requested to beef up security arrangements accordingly. The meeting was attended by ASP Chung Circle, SHO Chung, Registrar Emergency Services Academy, Head of Training Wings and Admin Officer.

The DG said although appropriate security measures had already been taken at the Emergency Services Academy yet it needed to enhance further security measures as the ESA worked as a backup support to enhance operational capacity of emergency operations.

He requested the CCPO Lahore to enhance security arrangements for the round-the-clock security system for safety of cadets, rescue officers/ officials at Emergency Services Academy without any further delay.
