Former table tennis international Mazhar Qureshi dies
KARACHI: Former two-time national champion and international table tennis player Mazhar Qureshi died due to cardiac failure here on Thursday.
His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered after Asr prayers at Masjid-e-Abu Bakar Siddiq at NHS Phase II, Karsaz. He was later laid to rest at Gulistan-e- Jauhar’s graveyard near Habib University.
Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) condoled his death.
In a condolence message, the PTTF president SM Sibtain said that he was a thorough gentleman and a good player.
“We lost a great friend today and share the grief with his family,” Sibtain said.
Mazhar played in the 1960s with players like Azhar Fasih, Mohammad Ayub and Mohammad Hanif.
The deceased won national titles twice in 1966 and 1969 besides being runner-up in 1964 and 1967.
